This week's topic:
Top Ten Alice in Wonderland-themed books!

Okay, confession! Mandy and I LOVE this week's TTT topic...but it doesn't fit in with our event theme AT ALL. So we're probably going to do it next week instead.

So today, we're going to talk about some of our favorite Alice in Wonderland retellings instead, okay?

This is a mix of books we've read and loved....and books we're DYING to read! But they all take place in Wonderland!!!

1)HEARTLESS by Marissa Meyer

Was this even a question? A Week of Wonderland was INSPIRED by HEARTLESS. I couldn't NOT list it first. This is such a fantastic take on Wonderland, and I especially love the way Marissa Meyer makes you want to EAT ALL THE FOOD when you read this. So hungry!!!

Plus, the rise of a villain? YESSS!!!!!

2) The Looking Glass Wars by Frank Beddor

My first year blogging, I reviewed the first book in The Looking Glass Wars series by Frank Beddor. It was one of the only books I reviewed that first year. As you guys know, Mandy recently started blogging with me, and one of the first things she did was review THE LOOKING GLASS WARS through her eyes. Yesterday for the event, she reviewed the middle book in the trilogy, SEEING REDD. We both really love this series and are eager to expose it to a new audience!

3) Splintered by A.G. Howard

The Splintered series by A.G. Howard is such a dark, twisted, MAD retelling of ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND. I love that it's built on a curse that passes through the generations. I also love that I've been following A.G. Howard for so long and watching the way hes has grown and evolved as she's meandered through the realm of publishing!!!

4) AFTER ALICE by Gregory Maguire

Did you know that Gregory Maguire, author of the best-selling novel WICKED, which retells the story of the Wicked Witch from THE WIZARD OF OZ....just published a book about ALICE IN WONDERLAND? I got it at BEA last year--and ironically, still haven't read it. It's probably out in paperback really soon now...if it hasn't come out already. ^^;;; I'm so ashamed of myself!!!

I love how Maguire turns a tale upside down (And did you know he's Marissa Meyer's inspiration for coming up with HEARTLESS!?).

I'm really excited for Maguire's spin on this tale!

5) FURTHERMORE by Tahereh Mafi

I have wanted to read FURTHERMORE since the moment I first heard about it--and even more once I saw the beautiful cover!! (But I can't buy it until February, because what if my #OTSPSecretSister buys it for me!? It's on my wishlist, ergh!!!) I only recently found out this was a Wonderland-influenced novel. What's funny is that Mandy bought it and decided to read it for the event because it sounded Wonderland-esque and it might qualify...and a week or so later, I found out that this was tagged as a retelling. So now I want this book EVEN MORE!!! (Is that possible!?)

6) SPLINTERED by A.G. Howard

                                           Splintered (Splintered, #1)

This is number one on my list because I literally just finished reading it. And oh my gooood was it amazing. Dark, twisted, it weaves every aspect of Wonderland into a new story. And the main character, Alyssa, is so smart and fragile and vibrantly colored. This might actually end up being one of my favorite reads this week.

7) AFTER ALICE by Gregory Maguire

                                          After Alice

I bought this book as soon as it was published, and for once I really took my time with a book, read it in chunks and waves. It's a parallel and a continuation of the original story, cleverly done and Maguire's narrative style is a perfect homage to the original.

8) THE LOOKING GLASS HOUSE by Vanessa Tait

                                             The Looking Glass House

I'll be reviewing this one sometime this week, and holy moly I am so excited. This is written by Alice Liddel's great granddaughter, and is told through the eyes of governess who becomes infatuated with Charles Dodgson and is less than pleased when Alice becomes a muse for his stories.

9) QUEEN OF HEARTS by Colleen Oakes

Queen of Hearts (Queen of Hearts Saga #1)

A Wonderland with no Alice. I never imagined I'd be excited for that sort of reimagining, but oh my gosh I am. Political subterfuge, mystery and murder, and a story that has The Queen of Hearts as our main character. It's a recipe for intrigue and this is another book I'll be highlighting this week.

10) BEWARE THE LITTLE WHITE RABBIT by Shannon Delaney

                                                      Beware the Little White Rabbit

Guys...this is actually 13 stories in one.Thirteen YA authors with a collection of stories inspired by Alice in Wonderland. Need I say more?
