Round-up of TWELVE Cinderella features & reviews over the lifetime of this blog

Welcome to A Week of Cinderella! Grab some promotional buttons for your blog HERE and stop back all week long for fun guest posts, exciting author visits (because, after all, Marissa isn't the ONLY author with a kick-ass Cinderella to celebrate!), giveaways, reviews, and a blog tour stop for CINDER!

So, looking at my bookshelves the other night, I debated re-reviewing books I've reviewed here previously or posting reprints of those first reviews.  Then, I was going through A Backwards Story's archives and noticed that between reviews and features, I have TWELVE posts featuring Cinderella.  TWELVE.  That's a heck of a lot!

So instead, I'm doing a round-up of all the times I mentioned Cinderella-inspired novels for you to enjoy.  Just click the link at the top of each item to see my feature or review!!!

(In order from oldest to newest...not counting this week, of course!)

The Funny Thing?  I wrote this post EXACTLY one year ago TODAY.  Happy Anniversary, Cinderella fairy tale post!!! You've been resurrected! ^_^

SUMMARY: This post features why author Jim C. Hines intrigues me and announcing the Publishers Marketplace write-up for CINDER by Marissa Meyers
Author: Marilyn Singer, with illustrations by Josée Masse
Release Date: March 04, 2010

Publisher: Penguin/Dutton Juvenile

Add it: Goodreads

SUMMARY: What's brewing when two favorites--poetry and fairy tales--are turned (literally) on their heads? It's a revolutionary recipe: an infectious new genre of poetry and a lovably modern take on classic stories.pFirst, read the poems forward (how old-fashioned!), then reverse the lines and read again to give familiar tales, from Sleeping Beauty to that Charming Prince, a delicious new spin. Witty, irreverent, and warm, this gorgeously illustrated and utterly unique offering holds a mirror up to language and fairy tales, and renews the fun and magic of both.

Book Review: GODMOTHER
Author: Carolyn Turgeon
Release Date: March 03, 2009
Publisher: Crown Publishing Group/Three Rivers Press

Add it: Goodreads

SUMMARY: Lil is an old woman who spends her days shelving rare books in a tiny Manhattan bookstore and lonely nights at home in her apartment. But Lil has an intriguing secret. Tucked and bound behind her back are white feathery wings–the only key to who she once was: the fairy godmother responsible for getting Cinderella to the ball to unite with her Prince Charming.

But on that fateful night, something went terribly and beautifully wrong. Lil allowed herself the unthinkable: to feel the emotions of human beings and fall in love with the prince herself, going to the ball in place of Cinderella in her exquisitely gorgeous human guise. For her unforgivable mistake, she was banished to live among humans, far from her fairy sisters and their magical underwater world. But then one day she meets Veronica–a young, fair-skinned, flame-haired East Village beauty with a love of all things vintage and a penchant for falling in love with the wrong men–and suddenly it becomes clear to Lil that she’s been given a chance at redemption. If she can find a soul mate for Veronica, she may right her wrong and return to the fairy world she so deeply longs for. . . .

    1. I wanted to read Lackey's PHOENIX AND ASHES this week, too, but ran out of time (part of her OTHER fairy tale series...which I haven't really read). THE FAIRY GODMOTHER is my favorite of the 500 Kingdoms books! I hope you enjoy them! :)
